NEW YORK — A federal judge has signed a default judgment finding Iran, the Taliban and al-Qaida liable in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Judge George Daniels in Manhattan signed the judgment Thursday, a week after hearing testimony in the 10-year-old case. The signed ruling, which he promised last week, came in a $100 billion lawsuit brought by family members of victims of the attacks. He directed a magistrate judge to preside over remaining issues, including fixing compensatory and punitive damages.
But I thought Iraq was culpable for it!

Of course, war hawks (the same war hawks who wanted to hit Iraq — and succeeded in spending trillions of dollars on an expensive and fragilising conflict that did nothing whatever for national security) are always looking for compelling and emotive justifications for their war-mongering.
And in Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, hawks like Friedman have found a man who is in many ways their shadow. Flamboyant, provocative, over-the-top and fiercely combative Ahmadinejad gladly engages in anything that will piss the West off — holocaust revisionism, 9/11 trutherism, and now war games around a major international shipping lane.

Iran is launching a “massive” 10 day war games naval exercise right in the belly of the beast.
Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari on Thursday announced the upcoming launch of ten-day massive naval exercises in the international waters.
“This is the first time that Iran’s Navy carries out naval drills in such a vast area”, he was quoted as saying. “The exercises will manifest Iran’s military prowess and defense capabilities in the international waters, convey a message of peace and friendship to regional countries and test the newest military equipment among other objectives”. He added that “the newest missile systems and torpedoes will be employed in the maneuvers, adding that the most recent tactics used in subsurface battles will also be demonstrated. Iranian destroyers, missile-launching vessels, logistic vessels, drones and coastal missiles will also be tested.“
There can be no question that this “exercise” may well be a cover for seizing and closing the Strait of Hormuz.
The real question is how America will respond.

The Strait is a 50-kilometre wide passageway through which about a third of the world’s oil tanker traffic sails. Whoever controls this crucial choke-point virtually controls Middle East oil exports.
“The importance of this waterway to both American military and economic interests is difficult to overstate,” said a report by geopolitical analysts at the global intelligence firm Stratfor.
“Considering Washington’s more general — and fundamental — interest in securing freedom of the seas, the U.S. Navy would almost be forced to respond aggressively to any attempt to close the Strait of Hormuz.”
“Iran has built up a large mix of unconventional forces in the Gulf that can challenge its neighbours in a wide variety of asymmetric wars, including low-level wars of attrition,” said Anthony Cordesman of the Center for Strategic & International Studies in Washington.

Any foo knows this government was responsible for 9/11… and all the rest of the reported ‘terrorist plots’.

Also most of the Arabs I have talked to who have a genuine understanding of the middle east believe that al-Qaeda is real and that 9/11 was blowback for U.S. military operations in the region, specifically that many promises were made to the Mujahideen fighting the Soviets, e.g. Mercedes cars, houses in Florida, scholarships to Harvard and Yale, and that at the end of the war with the Soviets these promises were unfulfilled.
I’m not one to take another persons viewpoint/opinion on what has happened in this world. There is plenty of evidence on the internet that proves what the truth is…[or lies, for that matter] I prefer the truth and nothing but the truth, but, hey, I never disprove anothers ‘opinion’. I am too certain of my own. Why was Silverstein, owner of the twin towers told the electrical system was cross corroding and the buildings would have to be demolished, at a huge loss to him.. why did he take out massive insurance on the buildings, and then collected it after they were blown up. A plane/planes couldn’t and have NEVER blown up any building that size… impossible…I know a guy who is a fireman in N.Y. who, with other firemen went toward the basement where 30 trillion dollars of gold buillion was stored, that belonged to countries all over the world.. the police turned them away, and when they returned, a week later, the buillion was POOF! gone…

10 years on, and still just theories. But I want to know the truth, so feel free to prove it. The way they screwed up Iraq, I find it hard to believe they could carry out such a complex conspiracy without a hitch. It would also require Dubya to be a Hollywood actor to do that blank look so well!

But seeing as we’re talking conspiracy theories I think the idea Iran did 9/11 is the craziest one of the lot.
CIA #1 to CIA #2: Those pesky Russians. They go into Afghanistan, and promise to build hydroelectric dams, schools, roads, bridges, trade with the locals, provide cars and other support. How are we going to win influence over all those promises to better the lives of the people?

As far as I have been told by Arabs who were unsuccessfully recruited to fight in Afghanistan this story is pretty much correct. Obviously al-Qaeda do have the religiosity, that is real. al-Zawahiri in particular is very fierce in his belief in the caliphate. But the motivation to fight America came from many of the Muslims recruited with the promise of Mercedes-Benz and who then ended up living in a cave after the war ended.
Is there a book on a what if scenario for Communism.
1. What if Stalin did not have to fight the Germans?
2. What if there was no cold war, and thus Communist Russia could export to the USA, Britain etc?
3. What if Russia did not have to fight a war in Afghanistan?
Would Communism have survived? Would we have the problems in the world economy that we face today?
I don’t believe in Communism, but the theory of long production runs, and less money spent on advertising, is compelling.

I woke up that morning, my husband was already watching the ‘attacks’ on the bedroom t.v. I immediately could SEE what was happening.. I said that was an implosion and the government did it.. what made me say that? Just stupid or intuition.. I don’t care which it is.. but I knew the facts of this story inside and out. But that was a long time ago… lots more to learn has happened since then. So my memory on the ‘amount’ of gold may be off.. they don’t even know themselves.. the fact is …. it was there, and then it wasn’t…

Doiy… if this is meant for me…. just this morning… I called Charter for some help with my account… the young man and I were talking about the situation of earth.. he said he had enough problems with his life that he didn’t pay much attention to the big problems… I told him I was a distance healer, and asked him if I could help him with any health problems… he said he had a niece that had sickle cell anemia.. I told him I would help and she would be ‘whole’ in about 15 minutes.. that is the kind of people I want to help.. no mocking, no scorning, no doubt..
