The Nobel WTF Prize

So the European Union won the Nobel Peace prize for “having over six decades contributed to the advancement of peace and reconciliation, democracy and human rights in Europe.”

Is this a joke? Nigel Farage thinks so, exclaiming that “this goes to show that the Norwegians really do have a sense of humour.”

The Telegraph reports:

The award of the prestigious prize sparked a mixed response in Greece, where living standards have crashed as the economy has contracted 20 per cent in the last three years, despite bailouts totalling 240 billion euros (£200 billion).

With social tensions still high, more than 7,000 police had to be deployed to protect Mrs Merkel on a visit to Athens this week, when she was derided by some as a reincarnation of the Third Reich.

Rena Dourou, an MP for the Left-wing Syriza opposition, said of the award: “At first, many people thought this was some kind of joke. It is a very big surprise.”

The European economic system really isn’t working. Many predicted at the inception of the Euro that a single monetary policy could not work for such a wide and diverse collection of countries and economies with many language barriers, many nationalisms, and very low inter-state labour mobility. Indeed the architects of the Euro admitted that they did not have the policy tools at the inception of the Euro to make the system work.

Instead of fostering “peace, reconciliation, democracy and human rights” as the Nobel Committee contends, as the ideological integrationists have pushed for more and more integration  the European system has in recent years led to more friction between the nations. In the early years of the Euro, Eurozone nations could access to credit at a single rate:

Cheap capital flowed into nations like Greece, Spain, Italy and Portugal, leading to property bubbles and the acquisition of unsustainably high levels of government and household debt. Once the global economy weakened, the Emperor was left wearing no clothes as the property bubbles burst. Such an unsustainable debt spree would have typically led to large-scale money printing operations in the periphery to keep the debt serviceable, but under the new European regime, nations can no longer do this. This has been a shock for the periphery, which is struggling to come to terms with the new reality of spending cuts, tax hikes and elevated unemployment. Here’s industrial production in Spain, Greece and Italy compared to the United States during the Depression era:

Unsurprisingly, trust in European institutions is collapsing:

And as a result, support for extreme political parties is rising. Opinion polls suggest that an election in Greece today would put the Neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party in third place. Simply, the European system that was supposed to bring Europe together could well be on the verge of tearing Europe apart.

Awarding the Peace Prize to the war-mongering, extrajudicial-assassination-approving, NDAA-signing, promise-breaking imperialist Barack Obama was not enough for these clowns. They seem fully determined to obliterate any last semblance of respectability the Nobel Peace Prize once had.

  1. Was speaking to my Norwegian friends about the announcement this morning. There were some choice quotes to pick from. Two of my favourites:

“I can’t believe it. Can it really be so hard to dig up some guy who has made a more obvious contribution to peace than this?”

“This year’s award has made me feel a lot like I did after they gave it Obama… Hoping that the rest of world wasn’t paying much attention and judging us as a bunch of naive idealists.”

Not a representative sample, but clearly there is some push-back at home…

  2. I am going to rebut your piece.

The Euro integration has reduced Nationalism. The youth today freely travel and work, and meet and marry inter-ethnically. How can you have war , when you have a cultural affinity to a country?

Therefore I think the Nobel Prize is symbolic and a reminder to the masses that going back to Nationalism is fraught with danger. I think the Nobel Board WAS very wise, as the Euro is on the verge of collapse, as well as the US, and with China and Japan bickering, and the ME about to explode, I think the concept of the Euro, which COULD be expanded world wide i.e. NWO will solve a lot of the inter tribal/religious/race violence that is going on.

It is like someone saying the Romans attacked the Scythians, so Ukraine should go to War with Italy today. Ridiculous!

    • I am a supporter of European free trade, which was the initial intent of the E.E.C.

I am not a fan of the Euro.

If we didn’t have the Euro we wouldn’t have this tension between the core and periphery that threatens to rip Europe apart. They took integration too far and it blew up in their faces.

    • How is reducing nationalism and destroying unique cultures a good thing?
Oh I see, it’s in the way of NWO globalism/neo-serfdom. Gotcha.

      • Whilst unique cultures would be marvelous (The travelers of yesteryear must have had a delight to the senses!) They don’t exist. Charities dump used sporting clothing and brand names on poor cultures. The traditional weavers and shoe makers can’t compete, go bust, and the middle men trade in the charity goods. I see a Kalahari Bushman wearing Nike, which is to a traveler disappointing, but to the Bushman, exciting.

With the internet, Hollywood movies, the world is one big melting pot of ideas. We have lost the vibrant culture at the expense of historical animosity when drummed up by Politicians during periods of unrest.

I used to disagree with a NWO, but you can’t swim against the tide forever.

        • “I used to disagree with a NWO, but you can’t swim against the tide forever.”

If it’s the correct thing to do, why not?

        • The NWO seeks a tyrannical one world government monopoly. True centralization of power. A world where individuals are sacrificed at whim for the “collective good”. A world where there is no where to run if you want to live under a different system. But don’t worry, the elites know what’s best for us and will save the planet!

        • You either believe in humans
          Or
You believe in what they can do

The very idea of forcing the ireedemable promises of the leaders on the population of the world is tantamount to a one world cotton farm and no different than the inquisition on the path to get ther
Peace through no the elinination of the soveringty of the human.

Yea buddy you are in love with the idea of halting humanity in its tracks in the name of a single God who defines Trust, Value and Collateral at the end of a loaded barrel.

U are a mutherfukinnaggerslave at your core who is in capable of understanding sacrafice as being the only way to contribute to the unlimited potental of humanity.

          NO USURY ON CURRENCY
          NO GOVERNMENT SHALL EVER BORROW
          IAMSLATTERY

      • People should be loyal to principles, not nations. To be loyal to a nation is to be loyal to luck. I am supposed to support whatever random place fate had me born in? Instead, figure out what is right and wrong and be true to that, irrespective of country or nation.

    • The youth could also travel before WWI, before passports and immigration restrictions. European Unions centralized bureaucracy is not the only way to have less divisive borders. Also, there are very few critics of Shengen zone, but a lot of EU regulations and budgets.

  4. “Any last semblence of respectability” of the Nobel “Peace” prize was near zero even before the Obama absurdity: Arafat, the father of modern terrorism, specializing in Israeli school bus bombings with shrapnel; Carter, the enabler of Arafat’s Muslim terrorism; Gore, the promoter of the man-caused global warming fraud swindle.

  5. When I saw the headline on my iPad I thought it was a joke too. I didn’t know international governmental organizations could win the Nobel Peace Prize. I’m very doubtful the EU is responsible for the peace in Europe since WWII. North America hasn’t had a North American Union and we haven’t seen a rematch of the Mexican American War (although we did have the War of 1812 rematch after the Revolutionary War.) I just think so many other reasons are more influential than the EU like 1) global communications, 2) the new geopolitical power structure post-WWII with the USSR and USA being the two main superpowers, 3) the advent of nuclear weapons as deterrents to war, etc…

Just look at the ill-fated League of Nations – it didn’t stop WWII from happening. The UN and the European Union have probably contributed rather little to keeping world peace – they were just formed around the time other factors fostered a more peaceful world (at least in Europe.)

    • This just enshrines the European Union, gives it the ultimate legitimacy, so that no one can now question whether it ought to be put out of its misery. It’s won a Nobel Prize, so it must be sacred and untouchable. This is money talking, not what is right.

Andrew – I agree with you. Times have also been good, the world has been afloat in bubbles, and everybody has been happy. It’s when times are bad that people start looking for someone else to blame.

The European Union was not brought into being to promote peace, but rather to make money.

  7. Comment someone made:

“When industrialists can’t profit from the people, their only choice is war to retain control.”

  8. Don’t believe anything the Brits say about the European Union. They opposed the 1956 Treaty of Rome organizing the Europe of 6. Wen this effort failed, they decided to join themselves in order to better wreck it from within. DeGaulle blocked this hypocripsy, calling Britain’s decision to join insincere; all they wanted was to be the Trojan Horse for the Americans. Then when DeGaulle left the scene the French President relented and the Britits joined. And then set about their task of wrecting Europe from withiin. For those of us who have watched this British treachery towards Europe the joke is on theim. It was a mistake to let them join and Europe will be better off once they leave.

  9. Its called prostitution. These people are prostitutes and I would not be surprised one bit that the EU paid large amounts of money to the selection commitee. Like Obama paid large sums to this Nobel scum to receive his peace prze. Nobel was a mass murderer by the way. Goes well with USA and the Bilderbergers nazi scum running the EU. EU will finish like the ex USSR. A facist bankster tyranny. Like the USA by the way. No difference between the FED and ECB.

  10. Institutions support other institutions.

From an individualist, idealist perspective, who among us can say that they have not sold-out [to some degree] now and again?

In a world where the institution holds nearly all power [especially the power to create wealth], the most accomplished thieves are our greatest heroes.

The individual [the real hero] is sublimated from his essence to the role of either gutless whore or principled serf.

  11. It would be complete collapse of Nobel peace prize credibility if in this decade German tanks would ride over Greek streets… Obama personally ordering killings of people with drones, but writ large.

    • PL: I for one don’t credit ANY credibility to the Nobel PEACE Prize (Science Prizes, etc. seem OK), nor do I care. But let’s watch this: Merkel is a fanatic unifier and, with public funds of course, is holding the EU together like Ayn Rand’s Atlas, while the German WORKer is taxed and his retirement jeopardized to bail out deadbeats in Greece. Who will prevail? Will the German people “shrug”?

  13. I have to disagree with you on this one Mr. Aziz.

If I am not mistaken, the countries that make up the Eurozone have been waging war with each other non-stop since before the concept of nationalism even existed! (i.e. 30 year war, 100 year war, Napoleonic conquests, up to WW1 and WW2.)

Although I agree with you that the Euro and Eurozone system is fundamentally, economically flawed, one must consider that the past 60 years of Pax Europaea (not counting the Yugo-Kosovo incident of course) is probably the longest time of conflict-free existence since before the fall of the Roman Empire.

If the Norwegians had awarded the Euro the Nobel Economics, however, it would be a completely different story!

  14. I haven’t studied the EEC founding documents, nor I must admit, even studied or pondered the possibility of “superstate” status or Britain’s and others’ limited fealty, e.g., keeping their sovereign currency. But I sure have lived through >60 years (2012-1945=67) of global war and peace. It seems to me that the the conditions — including weariness of and recovery from war, democracy, united protection against the USSR, commercial interdependence, prosperity — that discourage(d) intra-continental war prevailed both before and after the EU was formed. The only big changes I have seen are the collapse of the USSR (and resulting addition of free European states) and the aforementioned “bubbles” of pseudo-prosperity. The latter, of course, seems to have been exacerbated to a disastrous degree by EU collectivist and redistributive politics, as in the USA.

    • Redistributive policies in USA ? Indeed. All to Wall Street neocon fascist scum and nothing to the rest. Its indeed a special type of redistribution. Banksters take 100% of profits. And when they loose they go and get the FED to mop the vomit and make it to the middle class and the poor. Its called F-A-C-I-S-M. USA is Adolf Hitlers wet dream.

      • Your description of PRIVATE “redistribution” does closely match Obama’s SOCIALISTIC announced and practiced life work: Redistribution is taking* from disfavored groups and giving to favored groups, after skimming some off the top. In Obama’s scam** it’s giving to contributors, campaigners, and to voters willing to trade independence for handouts. As you describe, “banksters” take all they can get by fair means and foul, the latter often in partnership with government.

        * The difference is important. Government is a monopoly using force. Private predators must use guile and collusion with government legislators and regulators. Citizens can choose among financial operators and pay attention to whom they elect.

** Big government beneficiaries like to call redistribution “taxation”. But taxing is taking from all to provide public services to all.

    • I would not be too sure of the collapse of the USSR. The reunification of the UK and The U.S. seems has always been attractive to some.
      THE BRITISH AMERICAN UNION
It is one of the least understood realities of modern history that many of America’s most prominent political and financial figures— then as now—have been willing to sacrifice the best interests of the United States in order to further their goal of creating a one-world government. The strategy has remained unchanged since the formation of Cecil Rhodes’ society and its offspring, the Round Table Groups. It is to merge the English-speaking nations into a single political entity, while at the same time creating similar groupings for other geopolitical regions. After this is accomplished, all of these groupings are to be amalgamated into a global government, the so-called Parliament of Man. And guess who is planning to control that government from behind the scenes.
This strategy was expressed aptly by Andrew Carnegie in his book, Triumphant Democracy. Expressing concern that England was in decline as a world power, he said:
      1. Chandler, p. 458. For additional clarification, also see pp. 459-63.

Reunion with her American children is the only sure way to prevent continued decline…. Whatever obstructs reunion I oppose; whatever promotes reunion I favor. I judge all political questions from this standpoint….
The Parliament of Man and the Federation of the World have already been hailed by the poet, and these mean a step much farther in advance of the proposed reunion of Britain and America…. I say that as surely as the sun in the heavens once shone upon Britain and America united, so surely is it one morning to rise, shine upon, and greet again the reunited state, “The British-American Union.” 1
      SUMMARY
After the Civil War, America experienced a series of expansions and contractions of the money supply leading directly to economic booms and busts. This was the result of the creation of fiat money by a banking system which, far from being free and competitive, was a half-way house to central banking. Throughout the chaos, one banking firm, the House of Morgan, was able to prosper out of the failure of others. Morgan had close ties with the financial structure and culture of England and was, in fact, more British than American. Events suggest the possibility that Morgan and Company was in concealed partnership with the House of Rothschild throughout most of this period.
Benjamin Strong was a Morgan man and was appointed as the first Governor of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York which rapidly assumed dominance over the System. Strong immediately entered into close alliance with Montagu Norman, Governor of the Bank of England, to save the English economy from depression. This was accomplished by deliberately creating inflation in the U.S. which caused an outflow of gold, a loss of foreign markets, unemployment, and speculation in the stock market, all of which were factors that propelled America into the crash of 1929 and the great depression of the 30s.
Although not covered in this chapter, it must be remembered that the same forces were responsible for American involvement in both world wars to provide the economic and military resources England needed to survive. Furthermore, the key players in this

  15. Little good has been achieved by the EU project which could not have been achieved by a steady and continuing growth in free trade between member states. From that would follow a steady inter-mixing of people across Europe for beneficial reasons. Hell, as far back as the early 70s I went on corporate assignment from the UK to the corporation’s HQ in Paris and many others moved around too. And all at much lower cost and with minimal political meddling.
Today, the head honchos in the EU are a mish-mash collection of old commies and fascists who are hell bent on re-creating a 21st century political/corporate fascist state across Europe. There isn’t a fag paper between fascism and communism, except in who pays the bribes.
I have predicted for 15 years that fascism is on the rise in Europe but this time round the leaders won’t be wearing military fatigues and doing the goose-step; they’re wearing Armani suits and eating at the most expensive restaurants, at taxpayers expense.

This is what is happening. See Mr Blair for one example. He has aspirations to become the first President of The European Union and arguably the 2nd most powerful man in the world. And of course he would be unelected by European citizens. And one look at Barroso’s earlier lfe as a Maoist is all we need to know about this political filth.

We are witnessing a coup d’état by unelected political elites with sinister agendas. It is past time for the citizens of Europe to stand up and bring it to an end.

    • From your opinion, what was the big issue with having to convert currencies.. Being too young, and Australian, I did not have to worry about converting so many currencies.

Could they have an integrated Europe without the Euro? Should they have waited for a US or Australian style Federation?

    • You are totally correct and everyone who is either one of the 7% of the population which now owns 57% of the world or 1% of the population of the United states which now earns 51% of the total Annual income of the United States, knows it
It is a global coup d’etat.
Do any of the remaining 7 billion population know it. Probably not enough to stop it. It might be too late even for total awakening. What follows? Centuries of totalitarian feudalism and resurrection of the human spirit.
God let me me mistaken this time.
Send me an email and I’ll send you details.

  16. The world gets the kind of government it deserves. Those in charge (the rulers) are very close to a New World Order, One nation ruled by those who have been ruling in many nations, with one new currency free of debt for the rulers and paid for by the ruled.

  17. Yes you have it very clear. Progress is very rapid. It will soon be completed.A single world government with a new currency without any change in the system which has worked unobstructed now since it reach absolute power by 1970. It took from 1957 to 1970 do destory the Constitution, The Bill of Rights and Law.

  18. It makes no difference whom is elected or reelected.. Neither of these two candidates will do anything the people want. They would not have been permitted to become the two only eligible candidates if it was had not been certain that they would do what would be expected. Why do they have only two candidates for President and 50 for Miss America?
President Obama has promised Afghanistan he will keep 20,000 American troops there until 2024 He signed the National Defense Act of 2012 which allows arrest, detention, incarceration with charges or trial without time limit for suspected terrorists.
The US Department of Homeland Security and the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement Office have placed an order for 450 million rounds of .40 caliber bullets. The amount of ammo exceeds the amount of people that live in the US and many wonder the motives behind the vast purchase. The contractor Alliant Techsystems is the company supplying the ammunition to DHS and ICE and although the agencies claim these bullets are to be used for target practice many believe they have something else in mind. Hollow points are not training ammo. All amunition is leathal. Hollow points are not made for penetration, but rather expansion to create a greater shock, and crush wound. You can’t use HP for target practice because it makes a messy hole in the target material (paper/wood) because it expands, also it’s more expensive. Finally DHS has ordered over ONE BILLION rounds. They even ordered ammunition via other Gov. agencies that do not even use firearms like Forestry
The National Guard is not the constitutional authority for protecting this country, it is the Militia. On average, the US military used about 70 million rounds per YEAR during the war in Iraq. Are they preparing for wide spread civil unrest.
President Obama has issued an executive order, titled “National Defense Resources Preparedness”, which instructs the heads of various U.S. agencies to be on standby of the authorization of martial law under by the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
The order in fact gives Executive Branch immediate to power to seize and control of any and all assets declared as critical to maintain its industrial and technological base and to control the general distribution of any material (including applicable services) in the civilian market
The order further authorizes the immediate issuance of regulations to allocate, ration, or seize and all materials, including every thing from food, live stock and farm equipment to transportation, energy and even water!
Under this order the heads of these of cabinets of Agriculture, Energy, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, Transportation, Defense and Commerce can seize or ration any food, livestock, fertilizer, farm equipment, all forms of energy, all forms transportation and all other materials, including construction materials.
The order has been issued under the premise that the United States must maintain its industrial and technological base to maintain National Security and National Defense, which includes giving assistance to foreign nations, during times of war and times of peace.
Some of the oddest provisions include the allocation of water authority to use chemical and biological weapons being delegated to the Department of Defense, and the authority to place items owned by the Federal government in private property as well as sell Federal government property to private individuals.
The Federal Reserve, a Privately Owned Banking Cartel, Has Been Given Police Powers, with Glock 22s and Patrol Cars
By mid morning on Monday, September 17, as Occupy Wall Street protesters marched around the perimeter of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, all signs that an FRPD (Federal Reserve Police Department) existed had disappeared. The FRPD patrol cars and law enforcement officers had been replaced by NYPD patrol cars and officers. That decision may have been made to keep from drawing attention to a mushrooming new domestic police force that most Americans do not know exists.
Quietly, without fanfare or Congressional hearings, the USA Patriot Act in 2001 bestowed on the 12 privately owned Federal Reserve Banks, domestic policing powers.
Section 364 of the Act, “Uniform Protection Authority for Federal Reserve,” reads: “Law enforcement officers designated or authorized by the Board or a reserve bank under paragraph (1) or (2) are authorized while on duty to carry firearms and make arrests without warrants for any offense against the United States committed in their presence…Such officers shall have access to law enforcement information that may be necessary for the protection of the property or personnel of the Board or a reserve bank.”
The police officers are technically known as FRLEO, short for Federal Reserve Law Enforcement Officer. The system has its own police academies for training, their own patch and badges, uniforms, pistols, rifles, police cars and the power to arrest coast to coast without a warrant. They have ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain and a recruitment ad campaign with the slogan: “It’s about respect and recognition from your peers. It’s you.”
According to a former St. Louis Federal Reserve Law Enforcement Training Instructor, the officers are trained on pistol, rifle, auto-rifle, sub-gun and shotgun with manufacturers encompassing Smith & Wesson, Glock, Remington and Armalite.
The FRLEOs employed by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington, D.C. are considered employees of the Federal government since the Board is a government entity. Each of the 12 Federal Reserve Banks, as settled law under Lewis v. United States confirms, is a private corporation owned by commercial banks in its region. An email to several of the Federal Reserve Banks confirmed that they regard their FRLEOs to be privately employed by the bank.
The San Francisco Fed ran an ad for Captain Specialist, noting that “you will be charged with gathering and disseminating law enforcement intelligence information to the District.” It also noted that the individual would need to “obtain and maintain top secret clearance.” Typically, that clearance level is reserved for only the highest positions in the Federal government.
Anyone interested in False Flag situations?

    • What is the starting salary, and additional benefits like medical and annual leave? Will they pay further education tuition? Do they issue a uniform and badge? Will this get the applicant into night clubs?

    • In all seriousness, being of Ukrainian descent, the Nazis gave the local Ukrainian youths a uniform, status and a gun. This made it very easy to influence them to do what the Germans did not have the stomach to do. When Ukrainians questioned the orders their families were threatened murdered etc.
